BACK TO ARCHIVE   KDF AUCTION 2009 AUCTION UPDATE Our warmest thanks to everyone who generously placed a bid on our tea set, LOT 28, and especially to Caroline Hamilton whose winning bid raised £160 for the NSPCC.   ************************* A charity auction has been organised to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Kensington Dollshouse Festival. Everyone will have the chance to bid on exclusive or limited edition items made especially for this event by many of the top craftsmen attending the show. All the lots will be on display during the weekend or you can visit the KDF website to view the list and start bidding now. All proceeds will be going to the KDF charity of choice for 2009. KDF CELEBRATION TEA SET 2009 BY STOKESAY WARE We really do feel privileged to have attended every single Festival since 1985 and to celebrate we have made a special tea set based on our Jubilee Gold pattern to donate to the auction. Using a technique called 'clobbering' we have overpainted the gold design in coloured enamels, lending a new dimension to this service. 'Clobbering' as a technique was employed extensively in the 18th and 19th centuries and continued throughout the 20th century as a method of embelishing single colour designs with coloured enamels and was used on both on hand-painted ware imported from the Far East and home produced printed ware.     The service comprises of a tea pot, milk jug, sugar bowl, two cups and saucers and two tea plates, and what makes it unique is the specially decorated bread and butter plate which is signed and dated by Karen on the back.         Be sure to visit the KDF website to see the wonderful work on offer.
