  SPECIAL EDITION PLATE

An Ebay auction in association with THE KENSINGTON DOLLSHOUSE FESTIVAL in aid of THE RED CROSS - LONDON FIRE RELIEF FUND to help the people of Grenfell tower.

We will be auctioning 10 numbered limited edition plates on Ebay on consecutive days starting with No 10 on the 12th of November with the last auction for plate No 1 finishing on the 25th of November.

DETAILS - 'CALICO' LE701 C1866
I have been working on a limited editon of 100 Victorian meat plates which I planned to launch some time in 2018. Looking for something to offer Charlotte for her charity appeal at the Christmas Show, Peter and I have decided to donate a special edition within the edition of the first 10 plates which I have numbered individually on the back in gold. The main edition will retail for £40 each and we have a starting price of £20 for these auctions.

These large rectangular meat plates were so standard in Victorian kitchens that many of them have survived to the present day. The original of this lovely example was made by John Dimmock & Co in c1866 and is richly decorated in shades of blue. Blue was especially popular in early ceramic ware as the colour, derived from cobalt oxide, is particularly stable when fired to high temperatures.

These plates are handmade from bone china, gilded with 22k gold and the decoration of ceramic enamels from my own artwork is permanently fired on in the kiln. They are approximately 31mm, 1 3/8ths inches wide by 25mm, 1 inch high. The pen nib and stand are for display purposes only and are not included in the sale.

Thank you so much for your support,

Karen and Peter
