BLUE WILLOW KITCHEN PROJECT

STEP ONE Assemble the
range and tiled surround.
1. If you are using
a kit, make it up according to the manufacturer's instructions. We used kit
number DH47 from Phoenix Model Developments. We originally painted it matt
black, but found that the detail got lost in the photograph, so aged it instead
by applying a coat of silver Goldfinger paste which we buffed up when dry, and
then applied a coat of black Zebrite grate polish on top. We rubbed most of
this off which has given a metallic effect with a darker finish in the
detailing.
2. Print out the
tiles in best quality on glossy photographic
paper.
3. Cut a back and 2 sides for the range
from 1.5 mm thick card. Adjust these dimensions if you are using a different
thickness card. Tape together.

4. Position the sides and back around the range, carefully measure
the range height and mark with a pencil line.

5. Remove the card and stick the tiles above the pencil line,
centering them on the back section and trimming as necessary. If you are using
a larger sized range, print out two sheets and join.

6. Attach card surround to sides of range using double sided tape.
Cut and attach the top to give rigidity to the
structure.
