STEP TWO
Construct the chimney breast.
1. Determine the size of your chimney breast and cut a piece of
card to the height and width you require. We have made ours to fit diagonally,
but it could also be fitted square into a corner or placed in the centre of a
wall.
LAYOUTS

2. Mark a centre
line on the chimney breast and position the range surround centrally on it,
lining up with the floor. Mark round with a pencil line and cut the opening.
Put the range surround to one side.

2. Draw horizontal pencil lines 6.5 mm apart on the front of the
chimney breast.

4. We cut individual bricks measuring 18
mm by 5.5 mm from 0.75 mm thick card and glued them to the lines offsetting
each alternate row. Start on the first full row above the opening for the range
and center the first brick, working outwards in each direction. Work up and
down from this row. Paint with white acrylic paint.
5. Glue the range surround into the opening so that the edges are
flush with the surface of the wall and use 9 mm square section wood to
reinforce the joints.
